Drumcliffe Christmas Tree & Craft Festival

Drumcliffe Parish are hosting a Christmas Craft and Tree Festival in Drumcliffe Parish Church. The event will take place between Thursday 8th to Sunday the 11th of December 2016. The event will close with a community carol service on at 7pm on Sunday 11th of December.

This festival is building upon the success of our previous Festival in Lissadell Parish Church during December 2014, which was featured on RTE Nationwide and is available for viewing below.

On this occasion due to the size of Drumcliffe, we are limited to approximately 45 Christmas Trees. As with our previous festival it is hoped the trees will be erected and decorated by local schools, voluntary groups, individuals and businesses.

Each submission can be on your own chosen theme. The design should be relevant to the chosen theme; for example a theme could be traditions of Christmas, cultures of the world or an organisation’s mission. The list is endless and thinking up a theme should be as interesting and fun as making the decorations and erecting it. To help you along we have enclosed images of the previous event.

Each group is asked to write a short article on the meaning of their tree and the organisation if any. This will be placed on an A4 stand in front of their finished tree.

Trees need to be erected on Wednesday 8th or by Thursday morning 9th of December to be ready for viewing Thursday evening. It is hoped that each tree will have a set of LED lights to enhance the effectiveness of the display.

Upon completion of the festival trees will be your property and will be available for collection upon completion of the community carol service on Sunday evening.

There is no charge for displaying a tree. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Samaritans to support their on-going good work and also to support tourism development at Drumcliffe Church.

As with the Lissadell festival we welcome choirs and musicians to perform over the weekend.

Alongside the tree’s we will also have a craft fair. This is subject to weather condition and the cost is €60 for the three days. Stalls are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.

We would appreciate if you could let us know as soon as possible if you plan on supporting us with either a tree or musical talent.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
